Earthquake and Storm Disrupt the Country

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale shook the northeast Bulgarian Black Sea coast yesterday. No loss of life and major destruction were reported. Seismologists assured that there was no danger of tsunami as a result of the earthquake. At the same time, villages in Western Bulgaria remained without electricity because of the torrential rain. The storm caused serious traffic disruption in Sofia.

* A strong earthquake struck the northeastern region of Bulgaria at 10.49 am, registering five on the Richter scale. The tremor's epicenter was in the Black Sea, south-east of the Kaliakra Horn.
