The U.S. Embassy is proud to announce that Liliya Aleksandrova (17) from Montana and Plamena Slavova (18) from Dimitrovgrad were selected to participate in a three-week youth summer institute in the USA under the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Initiative in July this year. The two girls are students in their home-town foreign language schools. The summer institute will take place in Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where the girls will have a chance to meet with their peers from the USA, Europe and Central Asia. All travel costs will be covered by the Department of State. This initiative is intended to build lasting relationships between European and American youth and to promote awareness of shared values in light of the global challenges of the 21st Century.
