A Second Media Day for Sentry Lion 06 to take place this week

PRESS RELEASE
June 14, 2006

A second Media Day will take place on June 15th at Graf Ignatievo AFB, as part of the joint Bulgarian – American military exercise Sentry Lion 06.  Media will have the opportunity to observe American and Bulgarian pilots train together on their F15s, MiG and Su 25 aircraft.  The event will also mark the end of Sentry Lion 06 exercise.

The joint Bulgarian – American exercise Sentry Lion 06, which began on June 2, has allowed U.S. and Bulgarian personnel to familiarize themselves with each other’s operations and has exposed the Bulgarian Air Force to U.S. and NATO standards of training exercises, increasing its interoperability.  The exercise also strengthened Graf Ignatievo AFB, as a host to U.S. forces as a training facility.

United States Ambassador John Beyrle and Bulgarian Defense Minister Vesselin Bliznakov will visit Graf Ignatievo AFB to congratulate the exercise participants on the successful completion of the exercise.
