Announcing a Call for Proposals for the 2009 Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP)

The United States Embassy in Sofia is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the 2009 competitive, worldwide program for the preservation of cultural heritage - The Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.

AFCP supports preservation projects in the following three categories:

  • Objects and collections of objects from a museum, site, archive, or similar institution.
  • Cultural sites - historic buildings and sites, sacred places, monuments, and archaeological sites.
  • Forms of traditional cultural expression - documenting and audiovisual recording of traditional music, dance forms, or storytelling as part of a traditional expression.

The average amount of the grant is $32,000.

All project proposals must be in English.

Grantees must be:  a non-governmental organization, museum, Ministry of Culture, or similar institution.

The deadline for submitting project proposals is November 21, 2008.
