America.gov plans to hold a “rolling webchat” that would allow participants to pose questions and view answers throughout Election Day. In conjunction with the Foreign Press Center, America.gov will webcast briefings with political experts throughout the afternoon and evening of Election Day. Speakers will analyze poll results and project what may happen following Election Day.
America.gov will update its Web page throughout Election Day, providing coverage until about 1:00 am EST November 5. Updates are expected frequently throughout November 5 to 7. America.gov will update its Electoral College map to reflect the 2008 results. This will likely be updated in the day after Election Day, allowing time to ensure accurate results.
The following topics will be covered on or soon following Election Day on the U.S. Elections Web page:
- Introduction to the President-elect, with quotes from one candidate’s acceptance speech and another’s concession speech
- A wrap-up of various Election Day activities, including an examination of turnout and any voting problems
- Information on the first steps of transition
- Analysis of factors that contributed to the President-elect’s victory, including a review of how battleground states voted
- Electoral College review/analysis – a look at how various swing states voted with analysis from Foreign Press Center speakers.
- Wrap-ups of important Congressional and gubernatorial races, and a look ahead at the next Congress.
Details including the hours of the webchats and speakers as well as the lineup of the webcasts will be announced closer to Election Day on www.america.gov
