Free Concert in Sofia on July 2nd to Celebrate America’s Independence Day

PRESS RELEASE
June 30, 2009

To celebrate the 233rd Anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence, a brass quintet from the United States Army Europe Band will give a free lunch-time concert on July 2nd at noon in front of the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov.” The quintet is stationed in Heidelberg, Germany and will play lively music such as jazz and marches to celebrate the American holiday. All are welcome to attend!

The quintet is coming to Bulgaria to help the U.S. Embassy in Sofia celebrate the U.S. Independence Day, and this concert will give Sofia residents an opportunity to enjoy this special music.

The U.S. Army Europe Band and Chorus performs more than 200 times each year, and has appeared in over 20 European and Middle Eastern countries from Russia to Lebanon. Members of the band earn their positions by special audition, and most have performed or taught professionally prior to their military service.

The concert is made possible with kind assistance of the municipality of Sofia Cultural Department.
