Humanitarian Assistance
In terms of Humanitarian Assistance (HA) (stand alone construction or renovation projects) Bulgaria is a Tier Three country which means funding is rare for such projects. However with the increased American soldiers’ presence around Novo Selo there has been a direct correlation with the increase of Humanitarian and Civic Assistance projects. In 2007 American soldiers renovated a kindergarten in Mokren and repaired a retirement home in Sliven for a total of $11.5K. This year, during the JTF-E rotation, five more HA projects have been approved for $46.5K and a medical outreach will provide basic health exams and educational seminars to the local communities around Novo Selo.
