POSITION: American Embassy Recreational Association (AERA) Store/Daycare Assistant
OPENING DATE: April 25, 2008
CLOSING DATE: May 08, 2008
WORK HOURS: TEMPORARY Full-time position, 40 hours/week (8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
OPEN TO: All persons legally eligible to work in Bulgaria
The American Embassy Recreational Association (AERA) in Sofia is seeking an individual for the position of a Store/Daycare Assistant.
Note: AERA Store/Daycare Assistant reports directly to AERA Director and AERA Board and is not an American Embassy employee.
PROPOSED DUTIES OF THE INCUMBENT:
AERA store main duties:
• Prepare warm and cold drinks, complete store sales transactions, stock shelves; maintain daily and weekly budget balance sheets, place store orders from local vendors and inventory received goods.
• Manage the commissary facility in a professional and businesslike manner, understand and implement membership preferences with the approval of the chair or manager, and ensure optimum cleanliness, effective displays, and proper rotation of stock.
• Support Recreational Association services, including ordering and communicating with cable television companies, selling tickets for AERA events, etc.
AERA daycare main duties:
• Ensure the health and safety of all children enrolled at the Daycare center, considering their age, nature, abilities and knowledge
• Plan and organize different activities both for individuals and groups namely play, dance, singing, games and arts and crafts
• Coordinates with the parents to communicate about their child or to organize their participation in the work process
• Coordinates the communication between parents and the AERA Manager
• Works closely with the Daycare manager and assists in making the weekly/monthly reports
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Education: High school diploma is required. Education in Nursing/Pedagogic is a significant plus.
2. Language requirements: Level 4 (fluent) Bulgarian and Level 3 (good) English is required.
3. Experience: Two years of experience in child care/kindergarten and/or experience with Business Accounting Software
4. Must be able to pass security background check.
