U.S. Federal Judge Addresses Legal Issues in a News Conference in Sofia
U.S. Federal Judge John R. Tunheim took part in a lively and very informative discussion with representatives of the Bulgarian print and electronic media on Thursday, October 8. Judge Tunheim addressed issues concerning the promptness of the judicial process, mediation as a technique to deal with delays, use of special surveillance means, conflict of interests, transparency and openness of the legal process, code of ethics, among other topics. He also spoke about his work on the declassification of the state records on President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Judge Tunheim spent three days in Sofia and met with senior government officials and civil society members in a variety of meetings and events.
