On April 7 at 14:00, the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Jeffrey Levine will officially hand over EnCase software to the Institute for Computer Technologies of the Ministry of Interior. The donated EnCase computer forensic software is the industry standard and seizes, authenticates, searches, and recovers computer evidence in a rapid and thorough manner (www.guidancesoftware.com). Deputy Interior Minister Rumen Stoilov will attend the donation ceremony, which will take place on the ground floor of the Institute for Computer Technologies at 42, Teodosii Turnovski Str. The Institute’s specialized Computer Forensics Department is responsible for forensic examination and analysis of computers and computerized evidence and employs highly qualified professionals in the field of computer technologies and communications. This specialized software will give these experts the opportunity to improve the development of their product and services to meet the rigors of criminal investigations and prosecutions.
The donation is part of the continued support and cooperation between ABA/CEELI Criminal Law Reform Program and its Bulgarian counterparts. The Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (CEELI) - a public service project of the American Bar Association (ABA) - advances the rule of law by supporting the law reform process in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. CEELI has offices in 24 countries across Central Europe and Eurasia. ABA CEELI’s office in Bulgaria was the first of its kind and began providing technical legal assistance to Bulgaria in 1991, which it continues to do until now.
