American Company to Hire Bulgarians to Provide Food Service Support During Summer 2008 Joint Training
PRESS RELEASE
June 6, 2008
The U.S. Army has awarded KBR a contract to establish and provide Food Services operations in support of U.S. forces participating in joint training exercises in Bulgaria during summer 2008.
KBR will hire local Bulgarians as the dining facility staff as well as in other administrative and technical support roles. The project is expected to create around 85 jobs for Bulgarians. The exercise is scheduled to start officially on July 15 and conclude on October 15, 2008.
The facility will be constructed in approximately 30 days. Due to the time constraint for the construction of phase of the project, KBR will build this temporary facility with the support of KBR construction experts and will rely on Bulgarians to operate the facility once construction is completed.
The U.S. Army has allocated approximately $60 million for construction of permanent facilities at Novo Selo, with the intention of contracting with Bulgarian companies to the maximum extent possible under U.S. contracting regulations and laws. So far, more than 130 Bulgarians have already been hired in association with the construction of the temporary joint facility located on Novo Selo.
Information about contracting opportunities related to this construction and other future procurements is available at the Federal Business Opportunities webpage, also known as FedBizOpps (http://www.fbo.gov/). All vendors will be selected through a competitive and open process.
